Patterning
These are the objectives from the program of studies:

1-Demonstrate an understanding of repeating patterns (two to four elements) by:

• describing
• reproducing
• extending
• creating

patterns using manipulatives, diagrams, sounds and actions. 

2 - Translate repeating patterns from one representation to another.

3- Sort objects, using one attribute, and explain the sorting rule.

What have we been doing to practice patterning? Ask your child!

(answers include hunting for them in the classroom and hallways, looking for patterns in our clothing, making patterns with various manipulatives, actions and sounds, photographing patterns with ipads...)

In grade 1 we study primairy repeating patterns.
